Cosmetology I & II

High School Credits
       3 credits per semester  (2 semester course, 2 semesters required)
    Counts as a directed elective for General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, and Core 40 with Technical Honors diplomas.

Course Description
         Cosmetology instruction includes hair cutting, hair coloring, permanent waving, and hairstyling, as well as instruction on scalp treatments, facials and makeup, manicures, and pedicures. Related theories are taught along with Anatomy, Basic Chemistry, and Salon Management.
        This course trains students in theory and practice of cosmetology. It includes hairstyling, hair cutting, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, pedicuring and facials. - with practical experience on clinic clients, mannequins and fellow students.
Also covered are basic chemistry, anatomy, Indiana law, salon management and professionalism. Students take state licensing exams and, upon successful completion, receive a cosmetology license.

      1,500 hours of cosmetology classes
      10 th grade education or equivalent required
       Must be at least 18 years old
